Length units on one reference line
The metre is the common base for units of length. Metric length units scale by ten; inches, feet, yards and miles use fixed customary relationships. These length measurements cover frequent checks.

“1 centimeter in millimeters” names the same 10-to-1 relationship as 1 cm in mm. For another length measurement, the converter uses metres as its reference. Square and cubic units need different factors.
What is a yard?
A yard is 3 feet, 36 inches or exactly 0.9144 metre. It appears in fabric sales, field sports and technical specifications. Land and nautical miles are separate options with different factors.
Liters, cubic meters and density answer different questions
Both 1 liter in ml and 1 liter in milliliters equal 1,000. The answer for 1 cubic meter in liters is also 1,000. This page selects the US measure: 1 gallon in liters is 3.785411784. A gallon in liters means 4.54609 only when the source specifies an imperial or UK gallon.
How to calculate cubic meters
Convert every dimension to metres, then multiply length × width × height. A 2 × 3 × 1.5 m space contains 9 m³. A cubic meter calculator or M3 calculator search may include that geometry step; this page converts the completed 9 m³ to 9,000 liters. In reverse, the liter calculator divides by 1,000.
There is no fixed answer for 1 kg in liters. Kilograms measure mass and liters measure volume, so density is required. Water is close to 1 kg per liter; oil, milk and fuel are different.
Fahrenheit conversion includes an offset
What is the unit of temperature? Kelvin is the SI unit; Celsius and Fahrenheit are common scales. How is temperature measured? A thermometer reports it on the selected scale.
- Fahrenheit to Celsius: °C = (°F - 32) × 5/9
- Celsius to Fahrenheit: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32
- Celsius to Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15
“1 Celsius in degrees” needs a target scale: it is 33.8 °F or 274.15 K. Likewise, 1 Kelvin in degrees Celsius is -272.15 °C. Fahrenheit to Celsius needs the 32-degree offset. Values below absolute zero are rejected.

Not without density. Kilograms measure mass and liters measure volume; use liters = kilograms divided by density when the material density is known. The familiar 1 kg per liter approximation applies to water, not every liquid.
Use a period for decimals and commas for grouped thousands. Examples such as 1.5 and 1,250.75 are accepted, while mixed or incomplete separators are rejected.
Temperatures below absolute zero have no physical meaning. The lower limits are 0 K, -273.15 °C and -459.67 °F.
